This panorama commemorates the first game at New Era Field, formally Ralph Wilson Stadium.  The Buffalo Bills kicked off the season on a nationally televised Thursday Night Football game against their AFC East division rivals, the New York Jets.  The Bills donned Color Rush jerseys in all red, a special feature unveiled for the NFL season.  In a halftime ceremony in front of a sellout crowd, number 78 of legendary Bills defensive end, NFL All-Time Leader in Sacks and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Bruce Smith was retired.  The number 78 joins Jim Kelly’s number 12, as only the second number to be retired by the club.
