Situated on 870 acres located 20 miles south of Atlanta, this legendary racing surface welcomes NASCAR into the season in a 500-mile race. The 1.5-mile track hosted its first race on July 31st, 1960, the Dixie 200. Atlanta Motor Speedway was purchased by O. Bruton Smith in 1990 and saw an infusion of investment that led to expanded facilities and higher attendance.
